Midwife Services
We are a group of professional midwives who provide maternity care. We encourage expectant mothers and their partners to actively participate in a decision making process during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum care.
Pregnancy Care
Scheduled prenatal appointments are provided at suite 370-145 Chadwick Court, North Vancouver (building just beside the seabus). Prenatal visits are usually once every 4-5 weeks for the first 28-30 weeks, every 2-3 weeks until 36 weeks and then once a week until baby is born. Routine screening and diagnostic tests are discussed and prescribed during 30-45 minutes long appointments.
Hostpital Birth
We admit and deliver women in labour. We offer a range of natural way of birthing. Many women who labour at hospital use water, massage and other methods as an effective way to relieve pain. If there is a concern or complications we consult obstetrician and/or pediatrician on call.
Home Birth
Home delivery is an option for healthy low-risk parents. We observe, educate and guide to a safe and appropriate choice of birthplace. Midwives are the only health care professionals specifically trained in home birth.
Postpartum
We provide care for both mothers and babies for six weeks after the birth. Whether your baby is born in the hospital or at home, we provide care within 24 hours of the birth. Extensive assistance is provided with breastfeeding and latching newborns. After six weeks, clients are discharged from midwifery care and will see their family doctor.
